Sweet almond oil
Deeply moisturizes, softens and helps prevent breakage — the carrier that takes every botanical to the scalp and down the lengths.
Maalish — Urdu for "massage" — is a hand-poured Ayurvedic hair oil concentrate: bhringraj, amla, brahmi and hibiscus infused in sweet almond oil, finished with rose petals and jasmine. From MKMD Health, founded by Dr. Mashal Khan, MD.

Healthy hair comes from rituals. Maalish means "massage" in Urdu, and it's rooted in centuries of South Asian wisdom — where the healing touch of oiling nourishes not just your hair, but your spirit. A mother's hands in her daughter's hair on a Sunday. That's what this bottle is.
I handcraft it in small batches: a potent blend of Ayurvedic botanicals — bhringraj, amla, brahmi, hibiscus, rose and jasmine — in sweet almond oil, designed to revive dull, fragile strands and bring strength, shine and balance back to your scalp.
It's more than hair care. It's heritage bottled, and ritual refined.
Deeply moisturizes, softens and helps prevent breakage — the carrier that takes every botanical to the scalp and down the lengths.
Two of Ayurveda's most trusted hair remedies, infused for thicker, fuller-looking growth and root-to-tip strength.
Calm and revitalize the scalp — a healthy foundation for hair that stays. Rosemary leaf oil and extract round out the blend.
Infused to soothe the scalp and uplift the senses. "It smells like Baccarat Rouge," as one reviewer put it — a massage you look forward to.

3–5 pumps straight onto the scalp. Massage skin-on-skull for a few minutes, then leave it 30 minutes to overnight under a bonnet.
Comb through to the ends, then shampoo twice. Hair comes out softer, less frizzy and easier to detangle.
A few drops smoothed onto the ends for shine and protection. For a deep mask, mix 3–5 pumps into your conditioner and leave 30–60 minutes.
It's a concentrate. Maalish isn't diluted like the oils in cosmetic shops, so a root treatment is 3–5 pumps, not a palmful — reviewers with thick and Afro-textured hair say a little goes a long way.
Used the way it's meant to be — as a pre-wash scalp treatment — no: you massage it in, leave it 30 minutes to overnight, then shampoo twice and it rinses clean. Between washes, use a few drops on the ends only. It's a concentrate, not a light serum, so start with less than you think you need.
Our 24 reviews come from curly and coily hair, Afro-textured hair, fine hair that thinned after hair loss, naturally gray hair, and several beards. Oiling is a scalp ritual, so hair type matters less than consistency. If you're unsure, email us your hair type and we'll tell you honestly.
Softness, shine and less frizz — often from the first wash, according to reviewers. Less shedding is usually reported within a few washes. Visible regrowth is a months-long story: the postpartum hairline photos above span February to August. We don't promise regrowth, and if your hair loss is sudden or patchy, please see your physician.
The 50 ml batch is being poured now. Order today, you're charged today, and it ships by October 14. The 100 ml is in stock and ships right away — and works out cheaper per ml.
Sweet almond oil is the base. What makes Maalish a concentrate is what's infused into it: bhringraj, amla, brahmi, hibiscus, rosemary leaf oil and extract, rose petals and jasmine buds — the botanicals South Asian families have used for generations. The full ingredient list is on the product page.
A root treatment is 3–5 pumps, and reviewers with thick or Afro-textured hair say a little goes a long way because it isn't diluted. The 100 ml is $95 — $0.95/ml instead of $1.10/ml — and Subscribe & save takes another 10% off every delivery.
Maalish is a topical blend of botanical oils and extracts, and we don't make medical claims about it. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a scalp condition, read the full ingredient list on the product page, patch-test first, and ask your own physician if anything is in doubt.

I love love love this oil. I use it with castor oil and massage my scalp for several minutes and use it along the lengths of my locks as well. I love sleeping with it in my hair, and the scent soothes my nervous system. As for the results — I'm now one year postpartum and my hair is in better shape than it was before my pregnancy! My husband is hooked now too.
I was someone who had full, healthy hair and started noticing hair loss — my hair became very fine and the breakage was terrible. I tried a handful of different hair oils. Maalish was the only hair oil that actually worked. Not only did it thicken and strengthen my hair, my curls are much more defined. I cannot imagine hair wash day without Maalish!
I didn't know if it would suit my Afro kinky hair type, so I reached out to Dr. Mashal Khan who assured me that it would. I left it on for 12 hours in a bonnet and washed in the evening, and there was less hair loss than with previous washes. It is rich in texture and not diluted like hair oils you find in cosmetic shops — you don't need a lot of it. Definitely good value for your money!
Fantastic purchase. My friend recommended it and after using it once I can already see the difference in my hair. Follow instructions and you're grand. Can't wait to see my results over time!
